A 90-minute coach transfer to the small settlement of Kaiteriteri showcases the Tasman region's panoramic farmland and coastal vistas. Watch for the orchards, hops farms, and vineyards of the Tasman region.
Upon arrival in Kaiteriteri, board the comfortable Vista Cruise catamaran from the golden sands of Kaiteriteri Beach. A 30-minute cruise takes you into Abel Tasman National Park -- a land and maritime park. Cruise past the islands in the sheltered waters of the Astrolabe Roadstead.
Enjoy a packed picnic lunch on board.
At Anchorage Bay, you will leave the boat and venture ashore to follow the Pitt Head Loop Track. This 1½-mile walk takes you through kanuka forest and past Pukatea Bay. Your destination is Pitt Head -- site of the ancient Maori pa (fortified village). Views of the coast and evidence of earthworks are all that remain of this strategic site.
Return to the beach and your boat for the cruise back to Kaiteriteri, and the coach back to Nelson.
Please note: Wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Minimum age is 12 years. Travel time to Kaiteriteri is 90 minutes each way. The route is winding in places. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
