Board your air conditioned motorcoach, and great ready for a day long journey exploring one of Australia's great treasures: Litchfield National Park
Travel south from Darwin past abandoned WWII airstrips to the Berry Springs Tavern. Here you will have morning tea before travelling approximately one hour journey into the Litchfield National Park. Ascend the rocky Tabletop Range where dry woodlands and forests dominate the huge sandstone plateau. Arrive at Litchfield National Park. This fascinating, uniquely beautiful area was originally the home of the Aboriginal Wagait people.
Travel through the park to the famous Termite Mounds. One of Litchfield's unique sights, this collection of hundreds of termite mounds standing over six feet high in a wide swathe of empty ground has the appearance of a graveyard. The mounds are like enormous magnetic compasses with their thin edges pointing north south and broad backs east west, minimizing their exposure to the sun. This ingenious design keeps the mounds cool for the termites inside.
See Wangi Falls. The falls flow into a large, easily accessible swimming hole surrounded by lush monsoonal rain forest making them Litchfield National Park's most popular attraction. Depending on the weather, you may be able to swim at the base of the falls.
A casual picnic lunch is served within the National Park.
