This excursion offers a comprehensive look at Salalah, with a golden-sand beach, an exotic bazaar, and the sacred site of Job's Tomb.
Discover at Mughsail Beach, with miles of golden sand and imposing cliffs. If your arrival coincides with high tide, you may witness the spectacular blow holes as they shoot jets of water into the air.
See the lush vegetation during the drive along the outskirts of the city. You're headed to the captivating Al Husn souq (market) for a stroll through the colorful aisles of this lively shopping bazaar. Local merchants sell lumps of frankincense, fragrant spices, beautiful textiles, jewelry and a myriad of Omani artifacts. The aromas are intoxicating.
As you make your way to Job's Tomb, you'll stop briefly at the walled complex of the Sultan's palace. Take photos here; then, cross the Jubriah Plain and follow a winding road to this fascinating biblical site. Located on the hills overlooking the coastal city of Salalah in the Dhofar region of eastern Oman, Job's Tomb is a sacred site of pilgrimage for Muslims, Christians and Jews alike. Job was the Old Testament character who challenged God and paid dearly for his insolence.
Please note:
Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered. Shorts are not allowed. Women and girls must cover their head to enter Job's Tomb; bring a head scarf (mandatory).
